About The Project:

Derby Multi-Sports Arena is owned by Derbyshire City Council. Primarily built as a velodrome the iconic building also houses a central sports area which can be utilised for badminton, basketball and indoor football. This area is also designed to be used as a concert venue. In addition there is a reception area, offices, changing rooms, a gymnasium, spin studio, meeting and conferencing rooms, bar area and plant rooms.


Derry Building Services were responsible for developing the design of the scheme from Stage F providing all of the Mechanical and Electrical Services including a displacement ventilation system in the main arena together with a lighting system which was designed in accordance with Sport England guidelines. This system can be controlled to suit the specific needs of whatever sports are being played at the time.
